Europa Conference League
The Europa Conference League is a football competition introduced by UEFA, the governing body for football in Europe. It is the third-tier club competition in European football, below the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The tournament was introduced in the 2021-2022 season with the aim of providing more opportunities for clubs from smaller UEFA member associations to compete in European competitions.
The Europa Conference League includes teams that either didn't qualify for the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League, as well as those who were eliminated in the early stages of those competitions. The format includes a qualifying phase, followed by a group stage, knockout rounds, and ultimately a final.
The addition of the Europa Conference League provides more opportunities for clubs to compete at the European level, while also giving fans across Europe more matches to enjoy. It's seen as a way to increase the competitiveness of European football and to help develop clubs from smaller footballing nations.
